LIfe of a Lion for the Week of February 19, 2024

Swink Elementary students made and delivered Valentine's Day Cards to residents of the Rocky Ford and Ordway nursing homes.

NOMINATIONS DUE THURSDAY. Swink School District is calling for nominations for Teacher of the Year. The school district will be recognizing a teacher within our district and the winning teacher will have the opportunity to move on to the state level for the Colorado Teacher of the Year competition. Additionally, Swink School District will recognize classified staff members of the year. The classified staff will include our paraprofessionals, secretaries, maintenance/custodians, nurses, cooks, and bus drivers. Nominations may be made by students, parents, staff members and/or community members. A nomination should consist of a two to three paragraph statement as to why the teacher should be selected as Teacher of the Year or Classified Staff selected as the Classified Staff of the Year. Life of a Lion for the Week of February 12, 2024

Congratulations to Jennifer Gardner on her 3rd place finish at the Arkansas Valley Science Fair and she is now qualified for the Colorado State Science and Engineering Fair. Jennifer researched the Effects of the moon phase on the sex of the offspring of rabbits. She concluded that the moon phase does impact the sex of the offspring.

Best of luck to our basketball teams as they travel to Las Animas tonight. JV boys tipoff at 4:30pm followed by varsity girls and then the varsity boys.

Good luck to our Swink wrestlers and coaches today and tomorrow at regionals at Otero College.

Congratulations to the High School Knowledge Bowl Team on winning the 2A Regional Meet today at Eads and qualifying for state.

HS Basketball @ Fowler on Saturday, Feb 3rd has a time change. Games will start @ 1 pm with V girls followed by V boys. NO JV games.

Notice of Appointment to Board of Education The Board of Education of the Swink #33 School District is accepting applications from persons interested in serving on the Board of Education from the date of appointment on February 12, 2024 until the next regular biennial school election in November 2025. To be eligible for appointment, each candidate must be a registered elector of the school district for at least twelve consecutive months prior to the date of appointment. Any person who meets the qualifications and who desires to be considered for the appointment is invited to send a letter to the Board with a statement of interest and qualifications by Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 4pm, at Swink School District, PO Box 487, Swink, CO 81077. Letters may also be dropped by the Swink School District main office at 610 Columbia Avenue, Swink, CO 81077. The Board will interview prospective candidates on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 7:00pm at a public meeting.
